Beacon (formerly the H.E.L.P. group) is a Christian support group for parents who home educate their children. Our membership is open to any home schooling family for support. Our vision is to help homeschool families achieve their vision. What we offer is a DREAM - Discussion, Resources, Education, Activities, Mentoring.

If you are new to home education, we encourage you to explore the many different philosophies and methods in order to make an informed decision. People home educate for a number of reasons and in many different ways. Home schooling is one choice of the several educational options available. To begin your investigation, we suggest you check at your local library or bookstore for books on home education. Many of these books are carried in the Beacon lending library for our members’ use.

We want people to know that we are more than just help for homeschool families. We are here to bring people together, provide opportunities for fellowship, share field trip ideas and more. Check us out! We meet on the 4th Tuesday evening of every month August thru May (except December). Find us at the Elk Grove Village Public Library at 7pm. Starting in January 2012, membership through August 2012 is $15. Membership through August 2013 is $25.
